Kunchacko Boban has matured enough to shoulder a film on his own. In this feel good movie Kunchacko plays Vinayachandran, who is introduced to us as a book seller in Bus stand, much like the one we saw in Sathyam Sivam Sundaram. Later through Innocent, Kunchako gets a job in college canteen where he becomes the love consultant, Dr. Love.
Thespians
Every actor in this movie has lived up to the expectations. Manikuttan did a fine job. After Elsamma Enna Aankutty he is acting as a loveable character, he can be expected in many more movies in future. Bhavana was alluring while Ananya did the regular good humble innocent role.
The guy who appeared in ‘Living Together’, Hemant Menon acts like an updated Venu Nagavally. Bhagath Manuel, Rejith Menon, and Vidya Unni acted well. KPSC Lalitha and Vijaya Raghavan arrive in minor roles.
Technical Aspects
Shaji’s camera was ok. Songs were good. Gopi Sunder did a fine job as usual in BGM. Editing by V. Sajan was alright. The director was able to get the best out of every actor. K. Biju proved to be adept and he appears to get lot of offers.
The best thing that works for this film is Kunchacko, also everyone loves him. Innocent’s Visil elicits laughter in audience. The introduction of Salim Kumar was innovative, but there was nothing ground breaking when the serious part came.
The film had no boring events except the time when they show the flashback and the film gets a bit serious in a hackneyed way. The other notable problem were when Kunchacko becomes Dr. Love he abruptly changes his entire dressing pattern and all of a sudden gets a bike.
Dr. Love is another winner for Joy Thomas Shakthikulangara who did Hello, Mummy and Me etc. In coming days the film will be released in more theatres and we can expect more people appreciate the effort taken. Online promotion would work for this film.
If the feel good factor could work for ‘Salt and Pepper’, why not Dr. Love too?
