After the super hit of Rajamanikyam (2005), in which superstar Mammootty plays a comic hero named Bellary Raja (a local thug and rich buffalo dealer) for the first time in his career, the mega star is getting ready to enact yet another ‘Raja’ character named Pokkiri Raja in a film with the same name.

Pokkiri Raja produced by Tomichchan Mulagupaadam under the banner of Mulagupaadam Films, Pokkiri Raja will be directed by Vaishak, a television anchor and associate of directors Johnny Antony and Joshy. The film is scripted by the Udayakrishna-Sibi K. Thomas duo. Jassie Gift will score the music

Mammootty and Prithviraj play the sons of an idealistic teacher.The elder one, Raja (Mammootty) leaves his native place after some issues there. Now, he is a big time gang leader in Madurai . His dad hopes that his younger son Soorya Narayanan (Prithviraj) will be different but he is proved wrong as he too starts giving headaches to his parents.

Tamil heroine Shriya Saran, who was recently seen in Kutty (opposite Dhanush) is paired opposite Prithviraj. Shriya is making her entry into Malayalam for the first time.

The cast also includes Nedumudi Venu, Siddique, Sai Kumar, Vijayaraghavan, Salim Kumar, Suraj Venjarammood and Bindu Panicker.

Mammootty had done a cameo in Prithviraj’s One way ticket, directed by Bipin Prabhakar, sometime back. Prithviraj has already started shooting for the film. Mammootty will join the set soon.

Pokkiri Raja has been scripted by scenarist duo Siby K Thomas and Udayakrishna. The crew includes Shaji, the cinematographer and music director Jassie Gift.
