Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government to help women who lost their families. The Yogi government is implementing a scheme to provide Rs 6,000 per year to Triple Talaq victims. The project will go into effect from the New Year. Besides, legal assistance will also be ensured.
To get the benefit, women must file a copy of the FIR at the time the case is filed and court case records. Tens of thousands of women, including about 5,000 Talaq victims, will be directly benefited. Divorced women from other religions also get benefits under the scheme.
The women, who separated from their husbands through Thalaq, visited Yogi in September. The decision was taken following a meeting.
Separating ties with Thalaq is now a criminal offense that can carry up to three years in prison and a fine. The prime minister had said that even though the opposition opposed the bill, Muslim women should have the right to life and justice.
