New Delhi: The United States has said it will end tariffs on goods from India once the digital tax is agreed upon. The U.S. has imposed additional tariffs on India and some other countries, citing the taxation of foreign digital services as an injustice to their technology companies. But India has agreed to comply with the minimum tax as per the guidelines of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development.
The Union Finance Ministry said it would work closely with the US to ensure mutual understanding of the commitments and to resolve differences through dialogue. Welcoming India’s statement, the US said in a statement that “India and the United States are committed to working together on this issue through constructive dialogue.” The U.S. called the deal a “practical solution.”
