Mikoyan is one of the two most conflict-prone states in Mexico. The area is notorious for fuel looting, drug trafficking, and other illegal activities. Clashes were frequent between the two rival mafia groups in this regard. Fights and disputes between criminals have often resulted in the loss of innocent lives in the state. It is estimated that such a dispute may have culminated in Sunday night’s shooting.
