Oslo: Iranian human rights activist Narges Mohammadi has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Narges was selected for the award for her fight against the Iranian regime that oppresses women. Narges Mohammadi is imprisoned in Iran. Narges is the 19th woman to win the Nobel Prize.
Narges has been jailed 13 times and is still in jail. In 2016, she was imprisoned for 16 years for her human rights activities in Iran. Narges constantly fought against the death penalty. 51-year-old Narges is currently in jail in Tehran. Narges has been punished by the Iranian government on charges of anti-national activities.
