Katmandu: Landslides and floods hit Nepal. Eleven people, including an Indian and two Chinese workers, have been killed in floods in Nepal in recent days. About 25 people are missing. The bodies of three workers were found near Melanchi town in Sindhupalchowk district, northeast of Kathmandu. District officials said several people had been evacuated from their homes following the floods.
The flooded Sindhupalchok area was one of the epicenters of the 2015 earthquake. In the town of Melanchi alone, about 200 houses were completely or partially destroyed. Two of the dead were Chinese workers working on a drinking water project, international media reported. At least 25 people have been reported missing in floods in Sindhupalchok and other parts of the country.
Heavy rains since last Tuesday have damaged most of Nepal’s roads and isolated several areas following the flooding of bridges. Fish farms and livestock were flooded.
