Stockholm: This year’s Nobel Prize for Literature goes to French writer Annie Ernaux. The Nobel Prize committee said the honor is for the subtle and courageous portrayal of the human condition.
Annie Ernaux became prominent in world literature through her autobiographical writings. Born in a village near Normandy, Annie brought much of that rural background to her writing. The Nobel committee said the subtlety she showed in digging up the roots of personal memories was remarkable.
Annie Ernaux’s major works are Cleaned Out, A Man’s Place, A Woman’s Story, Shame, Happening, Possession, The Years, and A Girl’s Story.
