Islamabad: The death toll in Pakistan’s floods has crossed 1,000 in two months. 3.3 crore people are affected by floods.
Among the dead are 350 children. More than 7 lakh houses were destroyed. About 300 kilometers of roads and 150 bridges were destroyed. 24 bridges were washed away in the Swat region alone. 50 hotels underwater.
The government has declared the flood a national disaster. Much of the southwestern province of Balochistan is underwater. The heavy rains that started in mid-June are continuing in various parts. In the wake of the floods, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif postponed his official trip to Britain. The government has declared a state of emergency in the country. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif requested more help from the United Nations.
