Quetta (Pakistan): 28 people, including women and children, were killed when a bus skidded off the road and fell into a ravine in southwest Pakistan. 22 people were injured. The accident happened on the way from Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, to Turbat. There are reports that over speeding was the cause of the accident and the accident happened due to burst tire of the bus. Local police officer Asghar Ali said that the bus driver will be among the dead. 22 people who were injured in the accident were admitted to Civil Hospital in Basima. Some of the injured are in serious condition.
Road accidents are common in Pakistan where traffic rules and safety standards are not followed. Earlier this month, 20 people were killed and 30 injured in a similar accident. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti expressed grief over the accident.
