Dhaka: Three people died when a boat carrying Rohingya refugees sank off the coast of Bangladesh. 20 people are missing. The boat sank due to bad weather.
A fishing boat bound for Malaysia met with an accident in the Bay of Bengal on Tuesday. Rescue operations are being carried out by two Coast Guard boats.
Aljazeera reported that Police Inspector Noor Muhammad said that the bodies of three Rohingya women were washed up on Shilkali beach in the coastal town of Halbuniya.
“We went there after being informed by people who go fishing. Then the dead bodies of young women aged between 18 and 20 were found,’ said the police inspector. It was also informed that it has been sent to a hospital in Cox’s Bazar for post-mortem. He stated that the incident is suspected to be human trafficking and a case has been registered.
