Bangladesh insurgency; High Commission asks Indian citizens to avoid travel

Dhaka: The High Commission has warned Indian citizens to avoid travel as much as possible due to the outbreak of violence in Bangladesh. The strike has turned into a riot demanding a change in the government job quota. So far six people have been killed in different parts of the country. In this situation, it is reported that students from the Indian community should be cautious.

The High Commission has also shared emergency numbers to ensure 24-hour assistance to Indian citizens. Currently there are 7000 Indians in Bangladesh. According to the current quota system, 56 percent reservation has been introduced in government jobs.

Of this, 30 percent belong to the relatives of 1971 freedom fighters. 10 per cent reservation each for women and from backward districts, 5 per cent for tribal minorities and 1 per cent for disabled persons.
