Dhaka: At least 30 people have been killed after a ship caught fire in southern Bangladesh. More than 200 people were burnt in the blaze. They were admitted to local hospitals. Authorities said 37 bodies were recovered from the scene. Police and firefighters said the blaze broke out when the MV Avisan ship bound for Barguna arrived in the Daphne area around 3 am.
Authorities said some people drowned while trying to escape from the burning ship. About 500 people were on board.
