Ahmedabad: Of the 49 convicted in the 2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts case, 38 were sentenced to death. Eleven were sentenced to life imprisonment. The verdict was passed by the Ahmedabad Special Court. 56 people were killed in the incident that day. The Indian Mujahideen was behind the incident.

The trial of the case began in December 2009. The trial was completed in September 2021 in a case involving a total of 77 accused. During the years-long trial, more than 1,100 witnesses were questioned. The court acquitted 28 and found 49 guilty.
On July 26, 2008, bombs exploded in various parts of Ahmedabad. Within 70 minutes, 56 people were killed in 21 blasts in the city.
