Hezbollah commander Wissam al-Tawil was killed in an Israeli airstrike that ignited the conflict in southern Lebanon. The missile attack was launched on the SUV in which Wisam was traveling near the border. The Israeli-Hezbollah offensive intensified after the Israeli attack on Gaza began on October 7. Meanwhile, Wisam is the highest-ranking Hezbollah leader to be killed.
