New Delhi: Railways have canceled the train services following the announcement of a 21-day shutdown across the country to curb the spread of COVID-19. The deadline for the lockdown of the train services has been extended to April 14.
Railways said it applies to passenger trains, suburban trains, and metro trains. The service is scheduled to be discontinued until April 14. Meanwhile, railways informed that goods trains will service without interruption.
Days before, the railways had announced that all trains in the country had stopped till 31st March to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The Railway Directive said the same applies to passenger trains, suburban and metro trains. Subsequently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the shutdown of the train service till April 14, following a nationwide shutdown.
