Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rains continue across the state following the low pressure formed in the Arabian Sea. Yellow Alert has been announced in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Malappuram Kannur districts. On the west coast, between the island of Lakshadweep and Kerala, there are two minor blows in the Arabian Sea. Minor pressure has been strong for more than 48 hours. It is expected to be a Nisarga hurricane by tomorrow. The official announcement of the monsoon arrival in Kerala is expected to take place at 2 pm at a press conference held by the Central Meteorological Department.
Fishermen have been warned not to go to sea until June 4, as winds are likely to accelerate to 45 to 55 km per hour. Meanwhile, the meteorological department said that the monsoon would hit the coast of Kerala soon. Heavy rainfall is expected in Kerala. The Meteorological Department had earlier said that the monsoon is likely to come in June.
