New Delhi: Indian Railways is gearing up to implement a contactless ticket verification system based on the QR code as it is imperative to maintain social distance in the face of increasing COVID.
The Railway Information System (CRIS), an application center for all regional railway stations, has been launched to display the reserved ticket details in QR code.
The QR code-based ticket verification system was developed by the Prayag Division of the North Central Railway. If the passenger books a reserved ticket from any part of the country, a message containing the URL and QR code will be sent to the passenger’s mobile number. When entering the station or checking a ticket, the passenger can click on the QR code or URL code available on the mobile and the QR code of the reserved ticket will be available on the passenger’s mobile.
The Railways informed that the Railway Examiner can check this QR code quickly. Railway officials were asked to train officials for this.
