Tehran: The Iranian Revolutionary Guards chief who was killed in a US airstrike in Baghdad has been replaced. Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was appointed the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Revolutionary Guards Department, Esmail Qaani.
Following the martyrdom of General Qasim Suleiman, Brigadier General Ismail Khani has been appointed as the new head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, KhamnaE said. The announcement was made through the official website. Ismail Khani was one of the commanders who led the Iran-Iraq war in 1980-88.
Besides, the deputy commander of the Mobilization Force, Abu Mahdi Mohandis and Muhammad Rada were killed in the US attack, along with the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. The United States rocketed early Friday morning to target the military. Seven people have been killed in the attack.
