Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath has resigned amid political uncertainties. He handed over his resignation to Governor Lalji Thandan. The BJP has conspired to overthrow the government and the people of Madhya Pradesh will not pardon the fraudsters, said Nath.
The Supreme Court had said before 5 pm today that the government should prove a majority. The Bench comprising Justices DY Chandrachud and Hemant Gupta issued the order. The decision was taken following the resignation of a majority of MLAs led by Jyotiraditya Scindia. However, Kamal Nath has now resigned from the party without seeking a vote of confidence.
The political crisis began in Madhya Pradesh with Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia joining the BJP. The Congress-led Kamal Nath government has become a minority after the rebel MLAs resigned following Sindhia. But the Speaker delayed the decision on whether to accept the resignation of the MLAs and postponed the meeting to prove a majority. BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chauhan had approached the apex court.
