Yangon: At least 162 people died in a landslide in mine center at Myanmar. The incident occurred at 6 am on Thursday in Hpakant in Kachin state.
The area is 950 kilometers (600 miles) north of Myanmar’s biggest city, Yangon, and is the center of the world’s biggest and most lucrative jade mining industry. The rescue work is progressing on the site.
About 162 bodies recovered from the debris. The landslide occurred following heavy rain in the state. According to reports more than 50 people injured in the disaster. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital.
The Meteorological department alerted the laborers that not go to work due to bad weather conditions.
