Thiruvananthapuram – In celebration of Vishu, the Kerala government has announced an additional installment of welfare pensions. Finance Minister K. N. Balagopal stated that the pension for the month of April will be distributed ahead of Vishu as a special gesture. For this, the government has allocated ₹820 crore.
Approximately 62 lakh beneficiaries will receive ₹1,600 each. Pension disbursement will begin next week, and the Finance Minister has instructed officials to ensure that all recipients receive their payments before Vishu.
Out of the total beneficiaries, over 26 lakh people will receive their pension directly into their bank accounts, while the rest will receive it through cooperative banks, with delivery at their doorsteps.
Additionally, for 8.46 lakh beneficiaries under the National Pension Scheme, the central government is responsible for providing its share. However, the state government has proactively allocated ₹24.31 crore in advance. These funds will be credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the central government’s PFMS (Public Financial Management System) platform.
