Thiruvananthapuram: Famous director KS Sethumadhavan’s funeral was held in Chennai. The ceremonial rites were completed at four o’clock.
Burial was in the public cemetery near Loyola College. Prominent personalities of Malayalam cinema and socio-cultural life paid their last respects to Sethumadhavan.
Sethumadhavan, 90, passed away at his home in Kodambakkam at 5 am today. He has won several National and State Awards for Best Director. ‘Kannum Karalum’ is the first Malayalam movie starring Kamal Haasan as a child actor. He directed many films, including Anubhavangal Palichakal, Chattakkari, Odayil Ninnu, Achanum Bappayum. His last film in Malayalam was Venalkinavukal.
Apart from Malayalam, Sethumadhavan has directed films in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada. In 2009, he received the Jesse Daniel Award for Outstanding Contribution to a Film.
