Thiruvananthapuram: Three new trains to Kerala. The agreement on the new trains was reached at a meeting of the Railway Timetable Committee.
The Tirupati-Kollam, Ernakulam-Velankanni and Mangalore-Rameshwaram services will be newly launched in Kerala. Services will start as per the notification of the Railway Board.
At present, the Velankanni train service from Ernakulam via Kollam and Punalur is a holiday special. It is recommended to change this service from one day a week to two days a week to a regular train. When that happens, the current surcharge will be reduced. In the meantime, there is a proposal to extend the existing trains in Kerala to other routes.
