Thiruvananthapuram: With the number of Covid patients in the state exceeding 20,000 per day, theaters will not be able to open soon, said Minister Saji Cherian. The decision to open theaters will be taken only if the TPR is low. The minister said theaters could be opened if the TPR is at least eight percent. Saji Cherian also said that the government is considering giving entertainment tax exemption.
Meanwhile, theater owners have decided not to put pressure on the government to open theaters in the state. Fioc officials said the theaters would be reopened as per the government’s instructions. The decision was made at an emergency executive meeting of FIOC.
