Thiruvananthapuram: The tourism sector in the state is being opened in phases. Ministers Mohammed Riyaz and Veena George said that complete vaccination will be ensured in the tourism sector. Vaithiri and Meppadi tourist centers in Wayanad will be open for visitors within a week.
The second expansion and the subsequent lockdown came as the state’s tourism sector was gearing up for a comeback from the covid threat. About 15 lakh people depend on this sector. With the disappearance of domestic and foreign tourists, the tourism sector has languished. The government has decided to reopen the tourism sector as the spread of the disease is declining. As part of this, vaccination will be ensured for all those working in the tourism sector.
Vaccination will also be given to those who are not currently in the priority category. The first dose has been given to most of the people in the tourism sector of Wayanad district. Vaccination and Meppadi tourist centers will be opened within seven days after the completion of vaccination.
Vaccination has been started for those working in the Kumarakom tourism sector. Kumarakom and Munnar will be opened as the next phase. The aim is to open at least two tourist centers in a district without delay.
