Idukki: Policeman who was infamous for stealing mango dismissed from service. Action was taken against PV Shihab, CPO Mundakayam Vandanpatal of Idukki AR Camp. Idukki SP dismissed him and issued an order.
There were cases against him even before the mango theft. The action of the Home Department is also taking this into account.
On September 30 last morning, he stole mangoes from in front of a fruit and vegetable shop in Kanjirappally town. When the CCTV footage of the incident came out, the police got a big embarrassment.
He was subsequently suspended from service under investigation. The police tried to avoid the case by imposing frivolous charges and reached an amicable settlement with the complainant, but the intervention of the court caused a setback to the thief.
