Kollam: The two buses were taken into custody after the owners of the bus lit crackers on top of the bus before leaving for a college trip. The buses were taken into custody at Punnapra and Takazi when the students were returning from their recreational trip.
A fine of Rs 36,000 was imposed on both the buses. The RTO officials seized the buses in Ambalapuzha.
36000 was fined after being charged under the Motor Vehicle Act. Later the drivers were allowed to drop the children at the college. Then the buses were handed over to Kollam RTO enforcement wing. Crackers were placed on top of the bus before the departure of the second-year undergraduate students of Kollam Peruman Engineering College.
The fire spread to the bus but was put out soon. It came to the attention of the authorities when the footage of this was circulated on social media. As the news spread, the High Court sought an explanation about the incident.
