Thiruvananthapuram: The government has issued revised guidelines for killing wild boar. The order issued by the forest department states that the wild boar, which is endangering life and property in populated areas, can be killed by appropriate means. Permission is granted by the Panchayat President, the Municipality Chairman, and the Corporation Mayor. They will be appointed as Honorary Wildlife Warden and the Secretaries of the three locations as authorized officers.
Do not kill by the use of poison, explosives, or electric shock. At the request of the public, the Honorary Wildlife Warden and authorized officer may issue an order stating the reason for killing the wild boar by self-hunting or by someone else.
Ensure that human life, property, livestock, and other wildlife are not harmed during the killing. The body must be cultured scientifically. The details of the killers and cremated bodies should be kept in the register prepared by the local bodies. The services of public awareness committees can be used to kill and bury the wild boar.
Chief Wildlife authorized the transfer of power to kill and exterminate wild boar to the Honorary Wildlife Warden and authorized officers. The guidelines will take effect as soon as the Chief Wildlife Warden issues an order.
