THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The time limit for detecting traffic violations using artificial intelligence cameras and collecting fines has been extended. Fines will be levied from June 5 for violations detected by AI cameras. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by the Minister of Transport. It has also been decided to seek legal advice on providing relaxation for children to be accompanied by their parents on two-wheelers.
Earlier it was announced that the fine will be collected after May 19. May 19 was designated as Awareness Month. AI cameras have been opened in the state since April 20.
Violations are monitored by 726 AI cameras of the Motor Vehicles Department. Heavy fines are levied for violations.
