Kochi: The investigation of the case of three persons including former Miss Kerala Ansi Kabir who died in a car accident will be handed over to a Special Team. The new investigation team is led by ACP Biji George. The investigation team will work under the District Crime Branch. The other members of the group will be decided soon.
Meanwhile, those who attended the night party at the hotel are being questioned in connection with the case. The interrogation is being held at the Palarivattom police station. Police yesterday arrested six people, including Roy Vayalatt, the owner of Hotel 18, for destroying a critical hard disk in the case. The five arrested are hotel employees.
The CCTV footage of the hotel on the night of the accident was destroyed by staff at Roy’s behest. According to the family’s complaint, hotel owner Roy Vayalatt is suspected of the car accident that led to Anci’s death. According to the complaint, the car in which the daughter and her gang were traveling was chased by another vehicle.
Former Miss Kerala Ansi Kabir and two friends were killed in an accident near Vyttila on the Ernakulam bypass at around 1 am on November 1. While returning from an event in Fort Kochi, the car they were traveling in collided with a passing bike, overturned, and crashed into a tree.
The car was destroyed in the accident. Ansi Kabir and her friend Anjana Shajan died on the spot. Mohammad Aashiq and Abdul Rahman, who were in the car, were rushed to the hospital. Mohammad Ashiq, who was in critical condition, later died. The biker in the accident sustained only minor injuries. It was later revealed that the car involved in the accident was being chased by a group in another car and the accident occurred during a race.
