Thiruvananthapuram: During Onam, Supplyco has hiked the prices of four commodities, from rice to sugar. The price of Matta and kuruva rice will increase from Rs. 30 to Rs. 33 per kg and sugar from Rs. 27 to Rs. 33 per kg. Raw rice will increase from Rs. 26 to Rs. 29, and Thuvar dal from Rs. 111 to Rs.115. At the same time, the prices of some other items have been reduced. Minister GR Anil says that due to the increase in the price of the products in the general market, the prices have been increased in the Supplyco outlets as well.
The food department has given permission to increase the prices. The price hike has been implemented from Thursday, when Onam markets begins. With the start of Onan market, supplies have arrived in abundance at Supplyco outlets, which were lying empty for a long time. Various offers have also been put forward.
Chickpea price will come down from 93 to 90 per kg, gram from 95 to 90 and chilli from 82 to 78 per kg. The main offer is the Sabari Signature Kit, which offers Sabari products priced at Rs. 255 for Rs. 189. Apart from that, there are Deep Discount Hours and Combo-Buy One Get One offers that give additional discounts of up to 10 percent. Onam markets run from Thursday to September 14. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the state-level Onam Markets at 5 pm on Thursday in East Fort. District level markets will start from Friday. Apart from subsidized items, FMCG, Milma, handloom products, fruits and organic vegetables will also be available at reduced prices in the fair. Daily use items of leading brands will also be discounted.
