Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George said a special alert has been issued in 7 districts against dengue fever.
Special alert has been given to the districts where dengue fever cases like Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Malappuram are increasing. Other districts should also be cautious. Mosquito control and source control activities should be carried out in all districts. The Minister also directed to intensify prevention and awareness activities in view of increasing dengue fever in many districts due to continuous rains.
A meeting was held under the leadership of the Minister to assess the situation of the districts. The situation of Ernakulam district was evaluated separately. Each district should carry out activities according to the action plan. It should be evaluated accurately. Ward level sanitation fund should be utilized effectively for this. It was also decided to observe Reda Day once a week at the state level. Vector control units should be used effectively by the district health department. DVC units should be deployed in required high risk areas and conduct operations. Instructions for this should be given from the respective places. The minister also directed that the weekly report should be evaluated at the district level.
Prolonged fever should be noted. Many people come to the hospital when they get complications from the flu. This can make the disease worse. So, if you have a fever, you should make sure that it is not another contagious disease. Importance should be given to the destruction of the source of the mosquito. Care should be taken not to let water stand inside or outside the house. There is a possibility that the trays where the houseplants are kept are waterlogged. Therefore, the water in the trays of the pots and the fridge should be changed weekly.
Foreclosed homes, establishments, unused tires, blocked gutters, houseplants, water tanks, closets in hardware stores, foreclosed homes, and old vehicles should also be noted. Special care should be taken to see if there is breeding activity in areas where construction activities are taking place. Fogging should be made scientific. A special squad should be formed and operations should be carried out. Institutions, hospitals and hostels should be properly cleaned. Accommodation of guest workers should also be taken care of.
