Kannur: Six senior students have been remanded in custody in connection with the ragging of a junior student at Kanhirode Nehru College.
Mohammad Rashad, Mohammad Tamim, Abdur Qadir, Mohammad Musammil, Mohammad Muhaddis, and Mohammad Safwan were taken into custody. Chakkarakkal police took the six into custody from their homes on Tuesday morning.
They are being questioned by the investigation team. P Anshad, a second-year graduate student who returned after lunch last Friday, was allegedly taken to the toilet by a group of third-year students and beaten.
Hours later, the student regained consciousness at the hospital. Chakkarakkal police, which had initially registered a case of assault, had identified the seriousness of the incident in the ongoing investigation. A case of ragging has also been registered against the accused.
