Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced that September will be observed as Rabies Prevention Month in the state. An intensive campaign to vaccinate stray dogs will be started from September 20. The Chief Minister said that stray dog bite is an issue that all people must face together and the problem cannot be solved by killing stray dogs. Such actions cannot be accepted and a scientific solution is needed for this.
He said in a press conference that the dumping of waste in public places has led to the gathering of dogs and this will be strictly prevented and a special meeting will be held for this purpose and instructions will be given.
Meanwhile, there are 21 deaths due to lice infestation this year. He added that 15 of them were unvaccinated. Tests were conducted to find out the cause of death of all the 21 who died. But the chief minister said that there was a 57% increase in the use of anti-venom vaccines and ensuring the quality of anti-venom vaccines is central.
