Kochi: The Kerala High Court has ruled that the second dose of covishield vaccine can be taken after 28 days. The court directed that changes be made to the Cowin website. The proposal was made at the request of Kitex.
The central government has stated that the second dose of the Covshield vaccine can only be given after 84 days. Rejecting this, the High Court has directed that the second dose can be taken within 28 days.
Currently, those going abroad in the state are given a second dose after 28 days. This is done through a special registration system. The court asked why others did not receive the vaccine in this way. The High Court ruled that all applicants could take the second dose after 28 days, citing discrimination. Justice P.V. Suresh Kumar considered the petition. The court had earlier sought an explanation from the central and state governments.
