New Delhi: Rajiv Kumar will take over as the Chief Election Commissioner on the 15th of this month. This follows the retirement of the current Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Kumar. Rajeev Kumar is currently serving as the Election Commissioner. Union Law Minister Kiran Rijiju said on Twitter that the President had approved Rajiv Kumar’s appointment. Rajiv Kumar will take over as the Election Commissioner on September 1, 2020. He was previously the Chairman of the Public Enterprises Selection Board. Rajiv Kumar, a member of the 1984 IAS batch, retired from the civil service in February 2020.
