Thiruvananthapuram: Rains have again intensified in the state. Red alert has been declared in two districts today. Red alert in Ernakulam and Kottayam districts. Orange alert has been announced in 3 districts and yellow alert in 6 districts. The reason for the rains in the state is the strengthening of monsoon winds and the cyclonic circulation over southern Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, monsoon will arrive in the state by Friday. The state received heavy rain today. A red alert has been announced in 2 districts of the state.
The alert remains in Ernakulam and Kottayam districts. Orange alert has been issued for heavy rain in three districts of Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Idukki. The Central Meteorological Department has issued a severe rain warning in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts. Rains continue in the state due to the strengthening of Monsoon winds and the influence of cyclonic circulation over South Tamil Nadu. The Central Meteorological Department has also warned that rain will continue in the state for a week. The Disaster Management Authority has warned that there is a possibility of strong winds and lightning in the state.
Fishing has been banned in South Kerala coast and Lakshadweep coast in view of high wave warning and risk of sea attack. The Central Meteorological Department has predicted that monsoon will arrive in the state by Friday. The Central Meteorological Center has warned that there is a favorable situation for this and that there is a possibility of heavy rains.
