New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate said that the Popular Front had prepared a plan to attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bihar. The plan was to attack the Prime Minister during a rally in Patna on July 12. The ED also alleged that a special training camp was organized by the Popular Front for this purpose.
The plan to attack Modi has been explained in the remand report of Shefiq Payeth, a Popular Front activist of Kannur Peringathur, who was arrested in a case registered by the Enforcement Directorate. The remand report also states that terrorist groups were formed to carry out simultaneous attacks on some prominent and strategic places in Uttar Pradesh besides the Prime Minister.
The remand report contains serious allegations against Shafiq, a Malayali. He was working in a company in Qatar. Funds for terrorist activities were raised through these connections. According to the ED report, a total of Rs 120 crore was collected from abroad for terrorist activities and evidence of this was found.
