Kottayam: Seven persons have been arrested in a case of partner swapping in Kottayam. Police said the girl was molested by nine people. Police confirmed that one of the accused had gone abroad. The investigation is also progressing, focusing on social media.
Seven persons from Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam were arrested by the Karukachal police yesterday. The group operates using social media apps such as Messenger and Telegram. The police investigation was based on a complaint lodged by a Changanassery resident against her husband.
The woman complained that her husband was forcing her to have sex with others. Based on this, the police got information about a large group. It was mainly run by a group called Couple Meet Up Kerala.
There are thousands of couples in groups. It is through these groups that couples get to know each other. Police said a large group was behind the incident. The group also includes people from high places in society. About 25 people are under police surveillance. The police move is to expand the state-wide probe.
