Thiruvananthapuram: Police have confirmed that the Pappanamkot fire was a murder. Two people died in a fire at a private insurance company.
The police confirmed that Vaishna, an employee of the establishment, and her boyfriend Binu died. The police also informed that a DNA test will be conducted to prove that the second deceased is Binu.
The deceased insurance company employee Vaishna’s first husband and Binu were friends. After separating from her first husband, she was living together with Binu. Binu and Vaishna have been living apart for 7 months. According to the police, there was a problem between the two in the same institution 4 months ago. A bottle containing kerosene was found during the forensic examination. No trace of blood was found on the knife. The police are interrogating people related to Binu and Vaishna. The incident will be clarified on the basis of detailed statements.
The police said that they will conduct a DNA test to prove that the second body belongs to Binu. CCTV footage of nearby buildings shows a man entering just before the fire broke out. The police suspect that this is Binu. The person cannot be identified from the footage. The person who went up never came back down.
The fire broke out from a private insurance company operating in Pappanamkot at around 1:30 pm yesterday. The locals could not even put out the fire. When the fire brigade extinguished the fire, two bodies were found with burnt knives. Although Vaishna was identified, it was not clear at first who the second body belonged to. The police who checked the place became suspicious. It became clear that there were family problems when the police, who initially understood that the danger was not a short circuit, called Vaishna’s brother and inquired about the matter. The information received by the police is that Binu had come to this institution before and caused problems.
