Oxygen plant Kozhikode

Kozhikode: An oxygen plant has been set up at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. The 13-kiloliter plant from the PK Steel Complex has been relocated to the Medical College compound amid rising numbers of covid patients in need of oxygen.

The action is on the order of the Collector under the Disaster Prevention Act. The plant was relocated by Uralungal Labor Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS). Kozhikode is one of the districts in the state with the highest number of covid patients. Most of the critically ill patients seek treatment at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.

The Collector issued an urgent order on May 1 due to the inadequacy of the facilities at Kozhikode Medical College to produce the required medical oxygen for them.

This work has been going on for nine days free of charge as a public good of the Society. Work to replace the 40-foot-long plant began at 7 a.m. and was completed by noon. The Uralungal Society worked with the technical support of the oxygen plant manufacturers. Defense Secretary Ajay Kumar took to Twitter to congratulate the society for replacing the oxygen plant. Collector Samba Sivarao, NRHM District Coordinator Dr. And Naveen arrived on the scene.

The plant is in front of the new block. The block, which can accommodate 700 patients, has 120 ICU beds. The Collector said that all hospitals need such oxygen plants.
