Thiruvananthapuram: The court rejected the bail plea of Youth Congress state president Rahul Mankoottam. The court also remanded Rahul till January 22. After the results of the detailed medical examination, the Vanchiur court rejected Rahul’s bail application. It was found that there were no health problems during the examination conducted at the Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital following the court order. The arrest was made in connection with the Youth Congress Secretariat March.
The police arrived and arrested him from his house in Pathanamthitta on Tuesday morning. The police alleged that the women were kept in front of the march and attacked the police. Opposing the bail, the police have told the court that if Rahul is granted bail, it will be equivalent to giving a wrong message. The police has also produced a video of Youth Congress activists hitting them with lathis and shields.
The secretariat march was organized in protest against the attack on the KSU workers by the Chief Minister’s gunmen and DYFI activists during the Navakerala Sadas yatra. This resulted in conflict. Later, opposition leader VD Satheesan was registered as the first accused. A case has been registered against 500 Youth Congress workers, including MLA Shafi Parampil and Rahul Mankoottam.
