Thiruvananthapuram: A new low pressure is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal tomorrow. The Central Meteorological Department has forecast low pressure in the southern Andaman Sea for the next 48 hours.
The meteorological department has warned of heavy rains in Kerala in the coming days.
Extreme low pressure formed in the southwestern Bay of Bengal and made landfall along the northern coast of Tamil Nadu. Extreme low pressure of 10 km/hr in the last six hours has been reported from the Chennai-Chennai region at 11.30 pm last night, shifting about 40 km south-southeast. It will then move west-northwest, weakening to low pressure this morning, the Meteorological Department said.
New low pressure in the Bay of Bengal
The Met Department has forecast heavy rains in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Wayanad districts today. As part of the vigil, a yellow alert was declared in these districts.
