Thiruvananthapuram: Due to the strengthening of the Monsoon, the Meteorological Department has predicted that there is a possibility of very heavy rain in Kerala for the next 5 days and very heavy rain on Monday (July 15). At present, a low pressure area is located from north Kerala coast to Gujarat coast. Cyclone lies over West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha. Along with this, westerly/northwesterly winds will get stronger along the Kerala coast, causing rain.
The Central Meteorological Department advises moderate rain with widespread thunder/lightning/wind and very heavy rain at isolated places.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center has warned that there is a possibility of black sea phenomenon and high waves on Kerala coast and Tamil Nadu coast till 11.30 pm on Monday (July 15). A warning has been issued over Andhra Pradesh coast, Central West Bay of Bengal adjoining Central East Bay of Bengal, South Bay of Bengal and Central East Arabian Sea adjoining Karnataka coast with a speed of 45 to 55 kmph and at some occasions up to 65 kmph and possibility of strong winds and bad weather.
