Thiruvananthapuram: Enforcement Directorate inspection at CSI Sabha headquarters in the district. The investigation is related to the Karakonam Medical College case. The ED had earlier registered a case related to money laundering. Testing is done at four places at the same time.
The case is that the admission was not given after paying the fee for the medical seat. Bishop Dharmaraj Rasalath had admitted before the examination supervision committee that he had taken bribes since 2016 by offering medical seats.
Lakhs were bought as bribes from 24 students including 14 students from outside Kerala. The bribe was up to 92 lakhs.
The High Court had ordered a crime branch investigation on a complaint filed by the students alleging that the investigation in the case was ineffective. The cases were registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, breach of trust, fraud, extortion, and other charges.
In 2014, CPM candidate Dr. Bennett Abraham and Bishop A Dharmaraj were accused in the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency, where the college is the chairman.
