Thiruvananthapuram, November 1, 2023: Malayalam cinema legends Mohanlal, Mammootty, Kamal Haasan, and Shobana came together at the inauguration of Keraleeyam 2023, a festival celebrating the culture of Kerala. The festival, which will be held from November 1 to 7 in Thiruvananthapuram, will feature over 300 performances at 30 venues.
In the presence of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other dignitaries, the four stars spoke about the importance of celebrating Kerala’s unique culture and heritage.
“Keraleeyam is a great opportunity to showcase the richness and diversity of our culture to the world,” said Mohanlal. “It is a platform for our artists to come together and celebrate the beauty of Kerala.”
Mammootty echoed Mohanlal’s sentiments. “Keraleeyam is a celebration of our identity,” he said. “It is a reminder of the things that make us Malayalis.”
Kamal Haasan, who is a native of Tamil Nadu but has starred in many Malayalam films, said that he was honored to be a part of Keraleeyam. “Kerala is a land with a rich cultural heritage,” he said. “I am grateful to be a part of this festival and to celebrate the beauty of Kerala with you all.”
Shobana, who is one of the most celebrated dancers in India, said that Keraleeyam was a platform to highlight the unique art forms of Kerala. “Kerala has a rich tradition of dance, music, and theater,” she said. “Keraleeyam is a great opportunity to showcase these art forms to a wider audience.”
The inauguration ceremony of Keraleeyam 2023 was followed by a cultural performance that featured traditional Kerala dances, music, and theater. The festival will continue until November 7, and will feature a variety of cultural events, including exhibitions, seminars, and workshops.
