New Delhi: Lok Sabha election date announced. Elections will be held in 7 phases in the country. Elections will be held in Kerala in the second phase as well. The nomination submission for Kerala is on April 4, scrutiny is on April 8. Poll on April 26. The vote counting is on June 4.
The first phase of voting will be held on April 19. By-elections will be held in 26 assembly constituencies. The announcement was made in a press conference held by the Election Commission. The Election Commission also stated that there are 97 crore voters, 10.5 lakh polling stations and 1.5 crore polling officers in the country.
Male voters 49.7 crores, female voters 47.1 crores, transgenders – 48,000, maiden voters – 1.85 crores, youth voters – 19.74 crores, centenarians – 2.18 lakhs, service voters – 19.1 lakhs, voters over 82 years are 82 lakhs. There are 88.4 lakh differently abled voters. There are 55 lakh electronic voting machines.
Control rooms will be opened in the districts. Contract workers will not be assigned for election duty. Strict action will be taken against those who spread fake news.
The Election Commission has given instructions like caste and religion, do not use children for propaganda, do not spread posters insulting opponents, not to present advertisements as news and to be respectful in vote campaigning for people with disabilities.

Counting of votes on June 4
