Thiruvananthapuram: Local bodies’ ombudsman has sent a notice to mayor Arya Rajendran in the Thiruvananthapuram corporation letter controversy. A notice has also been given to the Corporation Secretary. The action was taken on the complaint filed by Youth Congress leader Sudhir Shah Palod. The complaint was that the mayor had violated his oath. The notice states that the mayor must respond to the complaint in writing by the 20th of this month. He has also been asked to attend the online sitting on December 2.
The complaint was that Mayor Arya Rajendran had taken a nepotistic stance in a manner unbecoming of a representative of the people. Meanwhile, in the context of the letter controversy, the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation will meet a special council on the 19th of this month. 35 BJP councilors had issued a notice demanding to call a special council. The protest of the opposition continues even today regarding the letter controversy. The mayor’s office is under heavy security.
An investigation into the source of the controversial letter has so far led nowhere. The crime branch chief, who is on leave, will return on Friday. Decisions regarding a detailed investigation will be taken after this.
