Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Students Union (KSU) has called for an educational shutdown in the state tomorrow, March 5, 2024, in protest against the police brutality during the march to the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) campus in Pookode, Wayanad.
The KSU protest march was held on March 4 to demand justice for J.S. Sidharthan, a second-year student of the university who was found dead inside the men’s hostel toilet on February 25. Sidharthan’s death was allegedly due to torture and mob trial by SFI activists on the campus.
The police resorted to lathi-charge and fired tear gas to disperse the protesters, injuring several students. KSU state president K.M. Sachindev and MSF state president P.K. Shafi were among those injured.
